Play Day + Big Bands + Lego Batman • Sunday, August 27
On Sunday, August 27, Seven Sundays in Gage Park welcomes crowd favourites The Silver Swing Big Band and The George Arnone Big Band, a swinging double-header that energized and entertained all ages last summer. Music starts at 7, but you'll want to show up early as food trucks (Kool Jim's Ice Cream Truck, Meat Ventures, Relay Coffee, Rudy's, and Urban Express) will be onsite from 6pm. Closing the evening will be a screening of family-friendly CGI comedy The Lego Batman Movie. Bring your blankets and chairs, and enjoy an evening of music in one of the most beautiful green spaces inside the city.
Alongside this week’s Seven Sundays, the Kiwanis Club of Hamilton East is hosting the inaugural Hamilton Play Day for families on Sun Aug 27 in Gage Park, a free day of family fun beginning at 2pm. Come and visit the Kiwanis tent and meet with a number of organizations who want you to show you different ways to play! Through play a child learns to make sense of their world and how to cope with situations. Play matters because it allows children to develop essential physical, social, emotional and cognitive skills. But it's not just for kids — as we move through the stages of our lives, our play styles may change, but our need for play doesn’t, regardless of our age.
